Born in sunny San Diego, CA and raised in the inner city community known to its residents as Southeast, Nikki spent her early years soaking up the sights and sounds of her surroundings. Raised by a single mother, Nikki did well in school and developed a penchant for writing short stories to entertain herself and her friends on the long bus rides to and from school.
Nikki published her first article online and has been writing every since. She has had a column that featured the goings on on the West Coast called Tha West Word on www.indiestreetent.com. Nikki is a freelance journalist/writer who has been published online as well as in print magazines such as American Cheerleader, Jr. She has been a staff writer for two local newspapers. Her poem "My grandma Would..." is published in the second anthology of the series "Gumbo For the Soul: Here's Our Child, Where's the Village?" Edited by Beverly Black Johnson with a foreward by Tee C. Royal.
